So was it originally banned to control costs? I thought it was around the same time they raised the ride heights and introduced the plank - as a safety measure in order to prevent catastrophic loss of downforce if the car bottomed out in a high-speed bend.
Not following the logic of wanting to bring it back.

it was banned to reduce costs, but it turns out an active suspension would be cheaper would be cheaper to produce than their current setups

I've heard mentioned a number of times that they don't want to increase cornering gs too far beyond where they are now. Surely tech like this will mean drivers are hitting >6g on some corners? That cannot be healthy or safe.

So long as they keep it to magnetic dampers, it'll be good. If they have servos it'll be a fail.
